What are your thoughts on this episode and what if any messages came into focus for you?

Ammit

Adonis’ message to Alain is really sticking with me. He told Alain to listen to his heart over his ideals. Adel affirms that his heart allows him justify all his actions. Alain is shaken by his doubt and prompted to ask Adonis a spate of questions because of his heart. Takeru goes wild on a dozen or more Ganma and demolishes them as his heart is grieving over Adonis’ impending death.

I love the sound of Adonis’ message, but I have trouble blindly trusting the heart because of Adel and others like him. I see it like this: the heart is fickle and tricky and needs to maintain a certain level of purity to be trusted to always make the right choice. Perhaps it should be trusted and then checked and put in balance by our other facilities and even more, we should probably check our hearts against others’ to be careful that we are doing the most loving and kind thing when we are faced with a dilemma.

Sono

I agree with a lot of Ammit’s take on this, but a very important part of what Adonis said to Alain is not to let your ideals cloud over what your heart is telling you, which I think is what he feels happened to Adele. Adonis put these ideals in front of him, and drilled them into his children to a point where Adele can’t tell the difference between these ideals that came from an outside source, and what his heart is telling him. And I think he’s trying to make the fat that that’s what happened clear to Alain. He doesn’t need to have this talk with Aria, because she already seems to understand it and likely never had this issue, given that she is depicted as much more empathetic to others. What Adois is saying is valid, and good, and I think that you should always check what your heart is telling you, your gut instincts, against ideals and morals and the feelings of others, but sometimes you know what’s right with certainty in spite of all that and you need to do what you feel.

Woments

The unKamenCrew’s Top 3 moments that made them say “Woah” from this bit of Ghost

Ammit

  • Igor immediately suspects Akari spoiled his red sky plot
  • Akari and Onari perceive the world SO fundamentally differently
  • Takeru is adorable asking about his dad

Sono

  • God DANG can Alain’s actor emote. And he can do it in this amazingly realistic way. This kid can display fear, and grief, and pain, and make it really believable without it being the kind of over the top emotional breakdown that you see a lot when a character hits this point in their arc. Alain just lost his FATHER, everything he knew has completely crumbled out from under him. But he’s not screaming or thrashing. The way this kid can make himself tremble and the control he has over his voice is amazing and I have so much admiration for his ability.
  • The scene between Onari and Javert might be my favorite scene so far in this show. It’s so simple and pure and really gives us this piece of Onari we’ve been missing. Onari was kind of rubbing me wrong this episode, with his weird slapstick and fourth wall breaking, but I feel like setting those bits of him up so forwardly was very deliberate in leading up to the scene with Javert. If Onari was ALWAYS acting like he did with Javert that scene would have lost a lot of impact. And the whole thing was just really beautiful. Onari knows what he’s doing is dangerous and might hurt him, and everyone, in the long run, but this is what he knows is right. This is what’s in his heart, and he follows it.
  • Takeru’s reactions to Alain and Adonis were so touching. Takeru can’t get his father back. He can’t have this reunion. So he’s so happy to see Alain get to see his father. And he’s furious on Alain’s behalf when that’s taken away. There’s ZERO time between Adonis getting hit and Takeru just LOSING it. This affords Alain the time to grieve he wouldn’t be able to take if he had to fight, and I think that’s a very big part of Takeru’s reaction. He wants to give Alain everything that he never got to have with his father.

Sarracenian

  • The fight scenes are great this episode, lot more emphasis on hand-to-hand than the previous. Tho the second major fight with Takeru and the other Ganma is a little odd how it’s almost like an intermission between Adonis’ death scene. Usually it’d be like, edited together?
  • Like Sono said, the scene with Onari is great, and it also reminds that despite all the silliness and large personality he is a dedicated Buddhist and demonstrates the compassion and mercy of it. Also ties neatly to the character of Takeru a bit, reminding you that oh yeah, these people are raised in a Buddhist temple.
  • I like how now Igor is also acknowledging Akari as a rival now. It’s good. Scientist vs. Scientist

New Heroic Eyecon Summoned: None

Miscellaneous: We glimpsed Specter’s power up Eyecon which will debut next episode. The new Ganma did NOTHING as far as we can tell. Akari cracked the fact that all the Ganma stuff is based on some nano-tech, but doesn’t understand it.
